"Pencil Me In"- Bombshell Hump Day Hop & ASC2

So, did you "Pencil Me In" for the weekly Bombshell Hump Day Hop? Well, if you're reading this, I guess you did! :) This week's challenge, put forth by our official Hump Day Hottie, Angela, was to use pencils to color the image on a card. Now, this IS a challenge for me! You see, many, many years ago I bought the BIG box of Prisma coloring pencils- you know the 100 and whatever count box...I got them on sale plus had a coupon so I wound up paying only $15 for them- GREAT deal!!! Well, now that I had this wonderful box of pencils, I was afraid to use them! I didn't want to 'ruin' them or 'use them all up', so they sat in the box collecting dust. I was telling my friend, Gloria, about them...now SHE is wonderful at using Prismas and OMS to color her images. Well, come April, for my birthday, Gloria gave me a 24-count box of Prismas- already sharpened- so I had NO excuse not to use them!! Still, they sat for a while until I needed to create a card for the SBS that I went to last Saturday. Well, that card came out pretty well, so I decided I'd try this challenge. After all that, are you still with me? Well, here is the card that I created for the Pencil Me In challenge for this week:

I used the parrot image from the Pirate's Life stamp set from Bombshell Stamps. The image is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with those Prisma pencils. I punched the image out using my oval Nestabilities (another story similar to the Prisma Pencils!) and popped it up on dimensionals. The card base is SU's Basic Black. The strips of YoYo Yellow, Green Galore and Pumpkin Pie were each embossed in my Cuttlebug using various embossing folders. The flowers are from BoBunny and the gold brads are Recollections from Michael's. The ribbon is 1/4" Pumpkin Pie grosgrain.

This sketch is one from Aly's Sunday Sketch. Aly is the VERY talented 10-year old daughter of one of the ladies in my blog group. Aly creates a sketch every two weeks and so far, they've been wonderful!! For such a young girl, Aly is a fabulous stamper, too!!! Check out her blog and give her sketches a try!!

Last of the SBS cards...

Well, here are the last few cards from the SBS...I had to add some finishing touches to them to make them complete- wiggly eyes and dew drops for the Halloween card and the sentiment and some gold detailing for the ornament card. I didn't care for how the sentiment was on the original card so I did it 'my way', not realizing that the original card designer didn't use Real Red for the card base- must have been Riding Hood Red...oops! Oh, well, it's not THAT noticeable! :) I really DO love the ornament stamps and that punch...I do believe they'll be on my next SU order!


This is a very cool card. It's a tri-shutter card. Here is a picture of it closed (this is the one that I made):

Here is a picture of the card opened (this is the original designer's card- I took the picture at the swap so I'd remember how to finish it up). Isn't it great??

That's it for swap cards for now. The next big swap I'll be going to is on Halloween Day in Reisterstown. I can hardly wait- but I still need to create a card for it! These swaps are just SO much fun- I love how each and every card is so very different!

Sweet Dreamers' Challenge- Who's Got My Button?

The Sweet Dreamer’s challenge for this week is “Whose Got My Button?” We were challenged to make a card using buttons. I don’t use buttons a lot, but I do LOVE buttons! My grandmother used to have a button can. Inside that can were buttons of all shapes, colors and styles, and I used to love playing with them! When I was little, I would spend hours matching up and sorting and lining up all of the fabulous buttons that she had. I have no idea whatever happened to her button can, but I sure would love to have it now!

Anyway…here is the button card that I made for the challenge- in honor of my grandmother’s button can!

The image is by Magnolia. I don’t know the name of it as I got it as an RAK from a fellow blogger. I colored this sweet little girl using my Copics. I finally used my Nestabilities and cut the image out (I have at least 5 or 6 sets of Nesties and had never used them…so, finally, today, I decided to be a ‘user’ and not a ‘collector’ of stamping accessories!) As soon as I can find my Stickles box, I’ll Stickle the bee’s wings. The card base is SU’s Basic Black with a layer of Kiwi Kiss, then a layer of Basic Grey’s Lemonade DSP. The green organdy ribbon is from Offray and the buttons are Lemonade from Basic Grey, which I attached to the card using glue dots. I think this card turned out pretty cute. What do you think??

Halloween is still over a month away, but the way time is flying, it’ll be here before we know it! Today, I decided to make another Halloween card using Sherrod Studio’s fun All Hallows Eve stamp set. This set has an adorable collection of images perfect for Halloween cards and treat gifts…there is an adorable little witch on a broom, an-almost- ‘cute’ haunted house, a scraggily cat, a bubbling cauldron and a whole slew of mix-and-match sentiments and greetings. I’m having a blast using this set!! You can, too, buy visiting Sherrod Studio’s website and picking up a set of your own!

For this card, I stamped the haunted house image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto GP110 white cardstock. I colored it using both Copic and SU markers, and then sponged around the edges using black ink. All other papers are from Stampin’ Up- Eggplant Envy, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black and Cast-a-Spell DSP. The fabulous “Boo” ribbon is from Michael’s. (sorry for the crooked scan!)

Bombshell Hump Day Hop!! Diamonds are a girl's best friend

It’s Hump Day! That means it’s time for another Bombshell Hump Day Hop! Our fabulous Hump Day Hottie, Angela, has come up with a wonderful challenge for us this week… “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”. We were supposed to glitz up our Bombshells with whatever we could find that would make our creations sparkle. THIS is where I had my first problem…not only has my creative mojo taken a vacation, but if you know me, you’ll know that I’m glitterphobic! I can’t stand glitter…I don’t want to touch it! I don't even want to be NEAR it! So, since glitter was out of the question, I thought about Stickles…well, this was my second problem- my box of Stickles must have take a vacation with my mojo because I couldn’t find it anywhere in my messy stamp room!!! Okay, WHAT was I going to do!? Well, I DID have some clear gems and they do sparkle quite nicely. I’m almost a little embarrassed to post this card because I KNOW that the other DT members will have absolutely GORGEOUS glittery creations to show and, although mine is a nice enough card, it’s pretty plain and simple, but, here it is:

I have a sign hanging in my kitchen that says “It is what it is”…and that’s a perfect saying for this card! I used the Bombshell Angel stamp set, stamping her onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her using my Copic markers. The card base and layering is Stampin’ Up’s Basic Black. The white panel is GP110 and is embossed in my Cuttlebug using my new Fleur de Lis embossing folder. The black flower is from BoBunny as are the large gems. The smaller gems are from Bazzill. You can see my Bombshell has some pretty large diamond earrings and ring…wish I had some that size! The black and white color combination was from my blogging group's weekly challenge- Ebony and Ivory. We were to make a card using only black and white or black and vanilla papers, inks and embellishments. Okay, so I cheated a little by coloring my Bombshell's skin!

Maryland City SBS

Next Saturday I am going to the Maryland City/Laurel Shoebox Swap. The 'theme' is fall/winter cards- Halloween, fall, Thanksgiving, winter or Christmas. I went round and round trying to decide on a card to take. Today, I finally decided on this card:

I bought this set- Holiday Hedgehogs- from someone on SCS years ago and had never used it. I love these little hedgies and thought this little fella would be cute to use...so, I did! I stamped him onto Very Vanilla cardstock. Instead of using an ink pad, I used my SU Basic Black marker making sure to not color in the To and From that is on the stamp. I colored the image using Prisma pencils, and sponged around the edges using Old Olive ink. The card base is Creamy Caramel. The layers are Real Red, Old Olive and one of the new SU holiday DSP. Antique copper brads are placed at the left hand corners. The sentiment is stamped onto Very Vanilla using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and punched using the scallop circle punch. The sentiment is adhered using pop dots. I never know whether my cards are too simple for the swap but I don't want to take anything too time consuming, either, since we'll be making 30 cards that day!! Anyway, I hope the swap ladies enjoy making this card. These little hedgies always make me smile!!

More Sneaks & Release Day!!!

Woo Hoo! Today's the day!!! Today is the day that Sherrod Studio is releasing their brand spanking new sets- Fresh Baked, Christmas Greetings, Tropical Holiday and Pond Friends are now available for purchase at Sherrod Studio's website!

Here are a couple more peeks at these fabulous sets!!! This first card is made using Christmas Greetings. All papers are SU. The tree image is stamped using Old Olive ink. The star and tree trunk are stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored using Copics. The 'ornaments' on the tree are colored using Copics and a silver metallic pen. I sponged around the edges of the image using Old Olive ink and layered in onto Real Red. Red self-stick half-beads are attached to each corner. The image is popped up on dimensionals. The sentiment (one of the many in this set!) is punched out using SU's tag punch and is also popped up on dimensionals. It's another simple card but I'm happy with how it turned out!


Next is a card made using the Fresh Baked stamp set. Again, all papers are Stampin' Up. The solid image gingerbread man was stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock using Creamy Caramel ink. His mouth and eyes were stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black. I cut the gingerbread man out and adhered him to a panel of GP110 white cardstock. I stamped his vest in Memento Tuxedo Black onto SU striped DSP and cut it out, adhering it- I felt like I was playing paper dolls!! :) The Santa hat was one I have had for a long time. I stamped that and colored it with Copics then cut it out and glued it to his head. The sentiment was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The dotted ribbon is from Michael's. the flowers are Primas, the gold brad is from Recollections.

More Sneak Peeks!!

Okay, here we are- day 2 of Sherrod Studio's Sneak Peeks!!! This set that I'm featuring today is called Christmas Greetings. It's a fabulous set of solid print and line print images of different designed Christmas Trees. There is also a star and a tree trunk as well as a bunch of wonderful holiday sentiments.

For this card, I used a base card of GP110 white cardstock. I stamped 4 of the patterned trees onto GP110 white using Handsome Hunter and Garden Green ink from Stampin' Up. I then stamped the tree trunk using Chocolate Chip, then cut each tree out. I popped them up using dimensionals and placed them, overlapping, onto a panel of GP110 white cardstock, which was layered onto Garden Green cardstock. The white ribbon is from Offray. The patterned paper, which I absolutely LOVE, is from Stampin' Up as well. The green stick-on gems are Bling It! from Basic Grey. This is a very simple card but I love how it turned out!! I hope you like it, too!!

Sneak Peeks and Aly's Sketch

Welcome back!! Sherrod Studio has 4 FABULOUS stamps sets that the team and I will be showcasing over the next 3 days…This first set is called Fresh Baked. It is a set of assorted gingerbread figures with fun ‘accessories’ and sentiments. I can see MANY uses for this set from cards to gift sets for the holidays!

For this card I used Stampin' Up's Chocolate Chip for the card base, with a layer of GP110 white which I ran through my Cuttlebug using the Dotted Swiss embossing folder. I cut a 2" square out of designer paper (unknown) and cut that diagonally to make the corner pieces. The image is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics. I sponged around the edges using SU's Creamy Caramel and then layered the image onto Wild Wasabi, Real Red and Chocolate Chip layers. The red ribbon is from Offray and the buttons are from BoBunny. The sentiment is punched out using SU's new label punch. This card is made using Aly's Sketch. If you haven't checked out Aly's sketch blog, please do!!!

Okay, let's get down to the nitty gritty- here is my card for this week's hop:

This is a very simple thank you card using a set called "Bombshell Angel"...and she really IS an angel, isn't she? I used Stampin' Up's Garden Green for the base card. The DP is unknown but I really liked how the flower in the DP matched the flower in her hair perfectly! The image is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored using Copic Markers. Bombshell Stamps are just SO much fun to color!! The main image is layered onto Garden Green and Basic Black panels. I also applied self-stick red half-beads to the left corners. Like I said, it's a simple card but I really like how it turned out. Sherrod Studio Sketch # 1

I hope you all had a blast with the Bombshell Hump Day Hop! The team showcased some fabulous cards, didn't they? We'll do it all over again next Wednesday so be sure to stop back by then!! THANK YOU all SO much for all of the wonderful comments!!!

Now, today, I am showing you a card I made using a sketch from Sherrod Studio. This is the first sketch that the Sherrod Studio's Design Team has done and it's a fun one! Simple, but I love it! Here is the sketch if you'd like to play along...

...and here is the card that I created using that sketch...

I used the Birthday Ella stamp set. I love this little girl image. She's so sweet and innocent looking and I just LOVE those feet! The image is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored with my Copic Markers. I then stamped the "Celebrate Your Day" underneath of Ella and then sponged around the edges of the image using SU's Certainly Celery. I layered the finished image onto SU's Certainly Celery and Ballet Blue. The card base is textured Ballet Blue, with a layer of Certainly Celery. The patterned paper maker is unknown. It was part of a HUGE stack of DPs that I received in a blog candy a while ago. The ribbons are both from the Offray Ribbon Outlet in Hagerstown, MD. I also attached 3 self-stick green gems to the side of the image. They're "Bling It" gems from Basic Grey. Not sure how much they'll show up in the picture, but trust me- they're there! :)

This week all of our projects are based on Ms. September's Challenge. Ms. September is Sarah K, and she challenged us to make a project inspired by a movie. Here's what I came up with:

I just got this brand new stamp set in the mail and as soon as I looked at it, I thought of American Graffiti! My yellow car is very similar to one driven in the movie. I love this movie and I love the line where Toad tells Steve "I'll love and protect this car till death do us part". The car stamp is from a set called "Speed Shop". The image is stamped on GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics. The card base is SU's Basic Black. The patterned paper is unknown (I received it in a blog candy prize). I also used Real Red, YoYo Yellow and metallic silver for layering. The metallic silver was run through my Cuttlebug using my brand new Diamond Plate embossing folder. The line from the movie is computer generated and the "American Graffiti" title was printed off of the Internet. Other embellishments used are screw-head brads, black organdy ribbon and pop dots.

Thanksgiving Sherrod-Style

The weather here in Maryland is starting to feel fall-like, so I figured I'd better get to work on some Thanksgiving cards. This card is made using Sherrod Studio's Harvest Blessings stamp set. The card base is SU's Chocolate Chip with a layer of Pumpkin Pie. The patterned paper is unknown (I received it as part of a blog candy prize I won a while back). The image is stamped on GP110 white cardstock and colored with Copics. The Happy and Thanksgiving are seperate stamps. The more I tried to get them straight, the crookeder they got! (Is crookeder even a word?) I stamped the pumpkins onto GP110 white and colored them with Copics, then cut them out and attached them to the bottom of the image panel using pop dots. The tangerine-colored gems are from Basic Grey...and yes, they ARE tangerine-colored! For some reason the reflection of my scanner caused them to look green.
Sherrod Studio will be releasing 4 brand spanking new sets on September 19th, and I think you're going to LOVE them! Keep watching- sneak peeks start on the 17th!!

For Paige...

I was reading through some blogs and stumbled across this heartbreaking story about a little girl named Paige. Paige is a sweet 13-year old who recently lost an arm in a boating accident. Erin, who is a neighbor of Paige's, is on a mission to have 100 cards sent to Paige through her blog. This is something that I couldn't pass on. Here is the card that I made for Paige:

I received this Magnolia image from Heidi who is in my blogging group, The Sweet Dreamers. I colored her using my Copics. The card base is SU's Chocolate Chip with Pumpkin Pie as the layers. The patterned paper is Cheeky by Making Memories, the flowers are from BoBunny and the gold brad is from Recollections. The grosgrain ribbon is Chocolate Chip from SU and the tangerine-colored stick-on gems are "Bling It" gems from Basic Grey. I hope that this little card will bring a smile to Paige's face. 2 Challenges in one!

It's been a week or more since I've been able to stamp. Today, I was finally able to get into my hideaway and make something! I needed to do a challenge for my stamping group, The Meade Girls. Their challenge was to create a card with a food image. I had this adorable Hambo stamp for a while and decided he would be perfect for my food challenge card...and since I was using a Hambo stamp, I will also submit this for Hambo's Hogs & Sketches challenge. I think this little guy turned out rather cute...

I used SU's Basic Black as the card base. The image is stamped on GP110 white CS using Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics. I doodled around the edge of the image using my SU Basic Black marker fine tip. The image is layered onto SU's YoYo Yellow and then Basic Black. I cut a 5-1/4" x 2-1/4" piece of YoYo Yellow and punched holes in it using assorted sized circle punches. I then sponged around the edges of the holes using SU's Summer Sun ink and then layered it onto another same-sized piece of YoYo yellow. The ribbon is SU's 1/4" white grosgrain ribbon. The "Cheese, Louise!" stamp (also from Hambo) was stamped onto GP110 with Tuxedo Black and then punched using the large oval punch and layered onto a black scallop oval. The mouse, being layered onto black, didn't show up very well, so I used the photo corner punch and punched out some YoYo Yellow corners. I think that solved the problem. The right corner was needing a little something, so I found a yellow and orange self-stick flower from ColorBoc that I received as part of a door prize at the Baltimore Shoebox Swap. After I scanned the card, I noticed that it looks like the little mouse has nibbled on one petal of the flower...I have since pulled the flower off and repositioned it so it isn't noticeable.

This second card I am also sumbiting to the Hogs & Sketches challenge. The image is a free digital image that Hambo offered. I printed him out a long time ago and hadn't done anything with him, so instead of letting him sit, I used him for this card. I colored him with my Copics (I think I hadn't used him because I have never used digital images before and was afraid they would smear with the Copics...and it didn't!) I used SU's Basic Black for the card base and layering. The white is GP110, which I ran through the Cuttlebug using the D'Vine Swirls embossing folder to make it look like clouds (or waves- whichever!). The DP is a scrap of something I bought at my LSS. The "Hello..." stamp is from a VERY old SU set- maybe Cute Critters? I punched it out using SU's new label punch. I'm not as thrilled with this card as I am with the mouse card, but he's cute and I can send him to my senior friend, Miss Laura. I think she'll get a kick out of him.

So, that's the extent of my Sunday stamping...so far! Hopefully after I finish laundry I can get back upstairs to stamp some more!
