Hump Day Hop- May Celebrations!

Welcome to the May Bombshell Stamps' Hump Day Hop!!  Alison came up with a great challenge for the hop- May Celebrations!  May has lots of fun, interesting, and sometimes bizarre holidays. So the challenge is to pick one of these holidays, and make a project out of it.

You should have arrived here from Jodi's blog.  If you did, great!  If not, make sure to go back to the Bombshell Stamps blog to start the hop at the beginning.

May 16 is Wear Purple For Peace Day.   Of course, we should all be working towards world peace, simply because we should. But May 16th is about more than that. On May 16th people wear purple to promote world peace so that aliens will contact us!  Yep. That’s wearing purple . . . for world peace . . . so that the aliens will stop avoiding our warring planet and come see us.  Apparently purple is every alien’s favorite color.

So, here is my card representing Wear Purple For Peace Day...

I used A Pirates Life and I think she's hot enough to lure an alien or two to Earth, don't you think?

So, head on over to Kim's blog to continue on your holiday journey.  Here's the entire blog list just in case you get lost along the way:

DTBST #126- Hat's Off to You!

It's time for another Dare to be Sassy Thursday challenge!!!  This week, our challenge is "Hat's Off to You"!- to create a card using an image wearing a hat, crown, or bandana.  There are SO many SSD images that wear hats, making it very difficult to decide on which image to use, but in the end, I decided to go with Copper Christi, a recent release from Sassy Studio Designs.  She is one hot cop and she colors up beautifully!

This is a very simple card, but I like the way it came out.   Now, head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog to see what the rest of the DT has created for your inspiration!  And make sure to play along with this week’s challenge.  We want to see all of your SSD images wearing hats!

Stamps:  Copper Christi by Sassy Studio Designs
Paper:  Basic Black (Stampin’ Up), Neenah 80# white, patterned paper unknown
Accessories:  Copic Markers, ½ “ navy satin ribbon (Offray), 1/16” hole punch, silver brads (Recollections), silver key charm (Recollections), pop dots, gold Spica pen

What’s a blog hop without PRIZES and there will be prizes!  3 new images for the grand prize winner chosen randomly from the comments left on the New Release blogpost on the SSD Blog, and 1 image each for 2 winners who will be randomly chosen from comments left on the DT’s blogs.  Winners will have until Wednesday night, May 23rd, to enter since we have such a long hop!

The “theme” this month is FLOWERS.  We are to use flowers on our project, but we are also to tell about our favorite flowers.  I am a wildflower kind of girl…don’t get me wrong, roses are beautiful, and if someone wants to send them to me, I’ll be more than willing to take them- but my favorite flowers are flowers that can be found growing along the roadside or in the woods- daisies, tiger lilies, and my all-time favorite flower- the Black-Eyed Susan.

Black-Eyed Susan
Rudbeckia hirta
Maryland designated the Black-Eyed Susan as the official state flower in 1918. It is a daisy-like wildflower with yellow petals and a dark brown center that grows in dry places. A member of the sunflower family and native to the United States east of the Rocky Mountains, Black-Eyed Susans are common in Maryland fields and roadsides.

OK, now it’s time for me to show you my card…I am using Effie Trinket #2 from The Hunger Games. I had so much fun using the first Effie Trinket image that I just couldn’t wait to start coloring this new one!  I hope you like it!!

Your next stop is Angela’s blog.  Remember, to leave comments all along the way- YOU might be a winner!!!

Stamps:  Effie Trinket #2 from Sassy Studios Designs, Thanks from Hero Arts Clear Stamps
Papers:  Neenah 80# white, Daffodil Delight, Only Orange (Stampin' Up), patterned paper (Basic Grey)
Accessories: Copic Markers, paper roses, glue dots, rhinestone flourish (Zva Creations)

Channel Surfing...with Hambo Stamps!

Welcome to the "Channel Surfing" Blog Hop sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo customers and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict TV show titles! It might be our favorite show, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Carolina's blog  you are in the right place!  If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose TV-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way! Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hoedown blog, as well as on the Hambo company blog,
Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, May 23.
Now, on to my card...everytime I see the Hammock Pig image, I think of Gilligan's Island...being on a warm, sunny deserted island, snoozing away in a hammock...ahhhh, that's the life!  :)

Gilligan's Island is a show that achieved cult status through syndication. Panned by critics as silly and stupid, it only lasted three years as original episodes..and I must admit that watching Gilligan's Island is a guilty pleasure of mine!!  Yes, it's silly and even possibly "stupid". but it's just so much fun!

Now dance on over to Beverly's blog for another great TV show!  Just in case you get lost along the way, here is the entire blog hop list:

Sassy Studio Designs is having a special 48-hour freebie and challenge this weekend!!  The image, Effie Trinket, will be one of the brand new releases coming out soon!!  Effie Trinket will only be available from 9am, Saturday, May 5th through 9am, Monday, May 7th, on the Paper Craft Planet SSD page HERE. The challenge is to use Effie Trinket and the following on your card:

E- embossing
F- flowers
F- full of color
I- ink
E- embellishments

Now, I know NOTHING about The Hunger Games. I have not read the book and I have not seen the movie, so I had to go online to search out who Effie Trinket is.  So, knowing nothing about her other than what I found online, here is my card:

Close-up:

For my challenge requirements:

E- embossing- I used my Cuttlebug and Dotted Swiss EF to dry emboss the yellow piece

F- flowers- the paper I used is full of flowers and I added some paper wildflowers

F- full of color- I used blue, bright yellow and pink for my colors- pretty colorful, I think

I- ink- I colored the image using my Copic Markers and then sponged the edges of the panel with ink

E- embellishments- I added some stick-on rhinestones to the corners of the image panel

Check out the SSD Blog HERE for more inspiration from the Design Team and make sure to head on over to the SSD PCP group page to pick up your free Effie Trinket image before it's too late!!!

DTBST #123- You've Been Framed!

Happy Thursday, and welcome to another Dare To Be Sassy Thursday! Our challenge this week is to make a card with a frame on it. I had a hard time coming up with an idea for this challenge...in the end, this is what I created:

...and a close-up of Pirate Penny

I used my Cuttlebug and Nestabilities to cut the scalloped square out of black paper then used my paper cutter to cut out the center to make a frame.   All in all, I guess it didn't turn out too badly.  :)

Check out the Sassy Studio Designs blog for more inspiration using frames.  To purchase Pirate Penny, please visit the SSD store.
Stamps:  Pirate Penny (Sassy Studio Designs), Calling All Scallawags sentiment from A Pirate's Life (Bombshell Stamps)
