Sweet Dreamers' Challenge- Who's Got My Button?

The Sweet Dreamer’s challenge for this week is “Whose Got My Button?” We were challenged to make a card using buttons. I don’t use buttons a lot, but I do LOVE buttons! My grandmother used to have a button can. Inside that can were buttons of all shapes, colors and styles, and I used to love playing with them! When I was little, I would spend hours matching up and sorting and lining up all of the fabulous buttons that she had. I have no idea whatever happened to her button can, but I sure would love to have it now!

Anyway…here is the button card that I made for the challenge- in honor of my grandmother’s button can!

The image is by Magnolia. I don’t know the name of it as I got it as an RAK from a fellow blogger. I colored this sweet little girl using my Copics. I finally used my Nestabilities and cut the image out (I have at least 5 or 6 sets of Nesties and had never used them…so, finally, today, I decided to be a ‘user’ and not a ‘collector’ of stamping accessories!) As soon as I can find my Stickles box, I’ll Stickle the bee’s wings. The card base is SU’s Basic Black with a layer of Kiwi Kiss, then a layer of Basic Grey’s Lemonade DSP. The green organdy ribbon is from Offray and the buttons are Lemonade from Basic Grey, which I attached to the card using glue dots. I think this card turned out pretty cute. What do you think??

Bombshell Hump Day Hop!! Diamonds are a girl's best friend

It’s Hump Day! That means it’s time for another Bombshell Hump Day Hop! Our fabulous Hump Day Hottie, Angela, has come up with a wonderful challenge for us this week… “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”. We were supposed to glitz up our Bombshells with whatever we could find that would make our creations sparkle. THIS is where I had my first problem…not only has my creative mojo taken a vacation, but if you know me, you’ll know that I’m glitterphobic! I can’t stand glitter…I don’t want to touch it! I don't even want to be NEAR it! So, since glitter was out of the question, I thought about Stickles…well, this was my second problem- my box of Stickles must have take a vacation with my mojo because I couldn’t find it anywhere in my messy stamp room!!! Okay, WHAT was I going to do!? Well, I DID have some clear gems and they do sparkle quite nicely. I’m almost a little embarrassed to post this card because I KNOW that the other DT members will have absolutely GORGEOUS glittery creations to show and, although mine is a nice enough card, it’s pretty plain and simple, but, here it is:

I have a sign hanging in my kitchen that says “It is what it is”…and that’s a perfect saying for this card! I used the Bombshell Angel stamp set, stamping her onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her using my Copic markers. The card base and layering is Stampin’ Up’s Basic Black. The white panel is GP110 and is embossed in my Cuttlebug using my new Fleur de Lis embossing folder. The black flower is from BoBunny as are the large gems. The smaller gems are from Bazzill. You can see my Bombshell has some pretty large diamond earrings and ring…wish I had some that size! The black and white color combination was from my blogging group's weekly challenge- Ebony and Ivory. We were to make a card using only black and white or black and vanilla papers, inks and embellishments. Okay, so I cheated a little by coloring my Bombshell's skin!

Head on over to the other participating DT member’s blogs to check out their glitzy and glittery creations!! I KNOW that you won't be disappointed!

Don't forget to leave a message at each blog! The more messages you leave the more chances you'll have of winning a fabulous prize from Bombshell Stamps at the end of the month!!! Oh, and take a peek at Bombshell Stamps' website and forum!!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon! Hopefully my mojo will be back from vacation VERY soon!!

Sweet Dreamers' Challenge # 4- Word Has It...

My blog group, Sweet Dreamers, had a challenge this week to make a card using the sentiment as the main focus- AND we weren't allowed to color anywhere on the card- YIKES! You know me- I just LOVE to color...what made it worse is that I was the one who made up the challenge!! Well, today was the deadline so here is a little card I threw together in about 5 minutes...it's simple but I think it turned out rather pretty.

The card base is Pretty in Pink with a layer of Cool Carribean. The patterned paper is Pretty Please "Polka Dot Pink" by My Mind's Eye. The sentiment is from an old SU retired stand-by "Lexicons of Love" stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto GP110 white. I sponged lightly around the edges using Cool Carribean ink. The ribbon is from Offray from the ribbon outlet, the flowers are Primas and the buttons in the center of the flowers are Pink Lemonade from Basic Gray. Whew- at least I beat the deadline!!!

Meade Girls/ Sweet Dreamer's Challenge #3- All About the Grid

The Sweet Dreamer's Blog Group on SCS and the Meade Girls, my local stamping group had a challenge to use a grid somewhere on their card. It could be plaid or checked patterned paper, a crossword puzzle, a Harlequin background stamp or whatever else you could come up with that was considered a grid. This is my card for the grid challenge.

I used the Birthday Henry stamp from Whiff of Joy and stamped it onto SU's Very Vanilla CS using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The image is colored using Copic Markers and I patted on a little Pretty in Pink ink on his cheek and ears. The card base is SU's Old Olive, with a layer of Pretty in Pink. The block design patterned paper is some I received in a blog candy that I recently won, so I'm not sure who makes it. I also used olive green Bazzill self-stick gems in two of the corners, and SU's Old Olive narrow twill ribbon. It's a simple card, but it's kinda cute. I'll probably use this for my MIL's birthday coming up in a couple of weeks.

Sorry for the crooked scan...I tried 3 times and still couldn't get it straight. I hope everyone has a great week and that you get lots of time to stamp!!!

Sweet Dreamers' Challenge # 2- Reuse/Recycle

The Sweet Dreamers' challenge for this week was to create a card using something that you normally would have thrown away. So, this is the card that I created for the challenge:

The card is made using all scrap paper- SU's old Bravo Burgundy, a discarded piece of River Rock, and a left-over piece of SU Bella Rosa DSP. The tag is a price tag from a t-shirt that my husband bought turned over to the blank side. The gold brad was taken off of an old card. The black organdy ribbon was tied around a pair of pajamas I bought last winter (and, being the ribbon-aholic that I am, I wasn't about to throw it away!) The FOREVER "sticker" is from an empty book of Forever postage stamps. I used SU's retired Roses In Winter stamp set. Inks used are Rose Red, Cranberry Crisp, Certainly Celery and Wild Wasabi and stamped on a scrap of GP110 white cardstock. Not too bad, I guess! :)

Make sure to keep checking here for upcoming "Sneak Peeks" of Sherrod Studios' new releases available for purchase on August 13th. I can tell you the new sets are WONDERFUL!!

Sweet Dreamers' Challenge # 1- About Me!

The Sweet Dreamers’ challenge for this week was “About Me”. We were to create a card or other project that used our favorite colors but also told a little about what we like to do- other than stamping.

This is my card for the challenge. As far as a favorite color- well, I don’t really have ONE favorite color- I like LOTS of different colors…I love hot pinks, bright greens, purples- just about any color as long as it’s bright! As far as my likes- well, I ride my own motorcycle and I LOVE it! There’s nothing better than cruising the back roads on a beautiful, sunny, warm day! Here, I used Hanna Stamps’ Route 66 stamp set. When this set first came out, I just HAD to have it, and since then I’ve amassed quite a large motorcycle stamp collection! Hanna and her bike are colored with my favorite coloring medium- Copic Markers! My bike is black meta-flake, (I just LOVE anything sparkly- BUT I’m glitterphobic, so I don’t use glitter much!) so instead, I used this black sparkly linen from S.E.I., as well as the glitter chipboard flower from Making Memories. I colored the motorcycle pink because one of these days (maybe next summer!) I’ll get a new bike and it’ll be something BRIGHT! Don’t know if it’ll be pink, but I know it won’t be black- although I DO wear a pink helmet- pink with silver swirls and skulls! The Route 66 image is from Artistic Outpost’s Route 66 stamp set. I used the route sign because I love to travel. I have a t-shirt that says “Silly boys, motorcycles are for girls” and I love it, so I decided to use that as the sentiment on my card. The gas pump is also from Hanna Stamps’ Route 66 set. I included this image- not because I like pumping gas- but because I DON’T pump gas…never have…I have NO idea how to even go about it! I have a wonderful husband that keeps my car and bike gassed up for me! Yes, I guess I’m spoiled!
So, that’s me in a nutshell. I had fun with this challenge and look forward to doing more! Hope you enjoyed it, too!
