Bombshell's Hump Day Hop

With all the hub-hub of the holidays, the Bombshell Stamps Design Team has taken a break from our Hump Day Hops. Well, it's time for us to get started again!!! With Shannon's permission, this hop is an 'anything goes' hop, so there is no 'theme' or challenge. That's fine with me! I need to make SO many thank you cards for holiday gifts, so that's what I'll be doing for a while! Here is one that I made for a friend. It's a very simple card, but I just love it!! I love the color combination and I just LOVE the image. I think this sailor girl image is my all-time favorite Bombshell image! She's gorgeous!

First off all, I used Stampin' Up's textured Cameo Coral cardstock for the card base. I then attached a layer of Basic Black, and then a layer of the coolest patterned paper (I have NO idea who makes it...it was part of a blog candy that I won, but isn't it pretty??). The image is from Bombshell Stamps' Ahoy, Sailor. She is stamped on GP110 white cardstock and colored using a combination of Stampin' Up and Copic markers. I punched the image and a layer of Basic Black out using my Cuttlebug and Nestabilities. I sponged around the edge of the image panel using Cameo Coral ink. The large black brads are from Recollections (Michael's). I am very pleased with this simple card and I hope you like it, too!

A Cheery, Cherry Thank You

I hope everyone had a wonderfully restful holiday. Because of our blizzard, I had a couple extra days off from school- and that's ALWAYS nice! :)

Today I was finally able to get into my hide-away and do a little stamping. I needed a thank you card for Heather, who was my Secret Santa at school. Heather was such a good Secret Santa, and even though she knows nothing about stamping, she tried to give me some stamping things she thought I'd like- and she did a very good job at it! Here's the card I made for her:

It's a very simple card, but I'm very happy with how it turned out. I used Stampin' Up's retired Cranberry Crisp cardstock for the base, then a layer of Certainly Celery, followed by a layer of (I think) Basic Grey patterned paper. Of course, I just noticed that I have the patterned paper going upside down- oh, well, too late to fix that!) The cherry image, from Hambo Stamps, is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored using Copic Markers. The thank you sentiment is from a long-time retired SU set called Frame Fun. I then layered the image onto Certainly Celery and then Cranberry Crisp. The cranberry and celery colored ribbons are from the Offray Ribbon Outlet. If you've never been to the outlet in Hagerstown, MD, you've GOTTA go!!! The image is popped up using dimensionals.

Boy, that's a lot of snow!!

Well, it's official! We're having a white Christmas this year!! This is what we woke up to this morning!


It started snowing Friday night and snowed through until this morning...a record-breaking December snowfall...not quite sure exactly how much snow we did get because of all the drifting...but I know first-hand from shoveling- there's a lot of it! We only shoveled what we HAD to- the rest can just melt over time. The forecast is calling for a storm on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day...not sure, yet, what it'll be- each channel you listen to is calling for something different- one says rain, one says a mixed mess and another says snow...guess we'll just have to wait and see! To those of you who are shoveling out- take it slow and stay warm!

Santa Came Early!!

Santa made an early visit to me today! Look what he brought me!!!

I got a brand new Victory Vegas Low motorcycle and it's the prettiest color blue- with lots of sparkles in the paint!! Now, if only the weather would warm up a bit so I can actually ride it!

Buzzin' By- Tuesday Throwdown

Hello!! Welcome back to another Tuesday Throwdown!! This week, Kim has given us a color challenge. The colors we were to use are Stampin' Up's Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, Close to Cocoa and Very Vanilla. I didn't have any Close to Cocoa left so I cheated and used Soft Suede. It's pretty close. Here is the card I made using these challenge colors:


I used 3 different stamps from Sherrod Studio's Pond Friends set- the reeds, the flying dragonfly and the Buzzin' By sentiment. For the card base, I used Close to Cocoa (really Soft Suede). The layers are Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise and then a layer of Tempting Turquoise designer paper. I stamped the images onto Very Vanilla using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored using Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise and Bashful Blue SU markers. I sponged around the edges of the image panel using Close to Cocoa and a sponge. I then put just a smidgen of Diamond Stickles on the dragonflies' wings to give them a little sparkle. I also added a bit of ribbon- celery-colored 1" organdy ribbon and 1/2" vanilla sateen ribbon (both from Offray). I decided it still need a little "something", so I added 2 large celery-colored brads and 2 small turquoise-colored brads (from Recollections) in the upper left corner. I think it turned out cute and I think I'll send this to my brand new Senior friend, Miss Dorthea. I think she'll like it!

Got 5 Minutes?

You need a little boy's birthday card quickly? Well, in 5 minutes, you can make this cute card:


The image is from Sherrod Studio's brand new release called Out of this World. I love the little 3-eyed alien! :) This set comes with this image, a rocket ship, a space man, stars, and several "spacey" sentiments...perfect for every little boy in your family...and some of the big ones, too!

For this card, I used Stampin' Up's Gable Green for the card base, with a layer of Barely Banana. I then ran a piece of Basic Black through the Cuttlebug using the Dots and Circles embossing folder. I then randomly placed self-stick pearls for "stars". The image is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers. This card literally took 5 minutes to make...and I think it turned out cute.

Welcome back to Day 2 of Sherrod Studio's sneak peek!! The set that I'm showcasing today is called Downhome Blessings (Kim wasn't sure what to call the set and asked for suggestions- and she picked mine!!) This set was illustrated by Kelli Caslow and is simply ADORABLE! Here is the card that I made for today:

The set includes this cute little guy, as well as images of a rooster, a pail, 2 chick images and several sentiments that will fit any occasion! For my card, I wanted a 'homey' feel...I used Stampin' Up's Sahara Sand cardstock for the card base, then a layer of paisley print patterned paper that I ran through the Cuttlebug using the Paisley embossing folder. I added a length of red gingham ribbon (Offray) to match his gingham shirt, and some red brads (Recollections). The image is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored using Copics...now that I look at it, I really should have carried the 'grass' all the way to the edge on the right side...I think I'll have to fix that...

Sneak Peeks and a Sketch Challenge!

This week's Tuesday Throwdown is a sketch challenge...AND we're also giving you a sneak peek at a brand new stamp set that will be released on Thursday, December 10th! The stamp set is called Out of this World...and it IS! It's a fabulous outer space set that will spark the imagination of any little boy! The set includes images of a rocket, a UFO complete with alien, a space man, stars and a bunch of spacy sentiments. Take a look at the card I created using this set. Oh, and the sketch challenge can be found here. Come on and play along! I did take a few liberties with the sketch, but for the most part, I stuck with the original design.

For this card, I used Stampin' Up's Brilliant Blue cardstock for the base, with Real Red as an accent color. The cloud patterned paper is some that I received in a blog candy that I won, so I don't know who makes it. The image is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers. I used strips of Brilliant Blue and Real Red, and red Magic Mesh for embellishment, along with 3 gold star brads (Recollections).

Tuesday Throwdown- A Little Late

Sherrod Studio's Tuesday Throwdown Challenge was for us to create a gift set of cards and something to put the cards in. Due to camera troubles, I'm a tad bit late getting my pictures posted. Sorry!

I made the card purse found on SCS here. It was super easy and SO fun to make!! Here is a picture of the complete set- the card purse, 4 all-occasion cards and 4 envelopes:

I used Sherrod Studio's Pond Friends set. It consists of a boy and girl duck, a dragonfly, an image of reeds, and several very cute sentiments.

Bombshell Hump Day Hop...Brickyard Blues!

Welcome to the Bombshell Hump Day Hop!! Today's challenge is to make a card using the Brick Wall technique (seen here). This was a brand new technique for me...it's kinda fun! :)

The first thing I thought of (probably like everyone else!) was the Commodore's song Brick House. At first, I was going to use one of the Bombshell girl stamps because we KNOW that they're all built like a Brick House!! :) After giving it some thought, I thought everyone would be thinking the same way, so I decided to go another route...instead, I used one of the Hot Rod sets. Here is the card that I made for this challenge:


The card base is one that I received in a blog candy. It's a textured olive green card, but I don't know who makes it. The 'bricks' were cut from another piece of patterned paper that I received in the same blog candy- it's brick red with a sort of slight mottled design to it- perfect for bricks! I cut the brick-colored paper into strips, then cut the 'bricks' 1-inch long. I attached them to a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock alternating in a brick-like pattern. The crown stamp is from Bombshell's Speed Shop hot rod stamp set. I stamped it randomly on the bricks to fill in the blank space. The hot rod and the banner are from Bombshell's King of the Road hot rod stamp set. (These sets are PERFECT for the car-loving guys in your family!) I stamped the hot rod onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it using Copic's orange marker and then used an At You Spica pen in silver glitter to color the 'chrome' on the hot rod. The car is cut out and attached using dimensionals. The banner is also stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black and I did some shadowing with my Copic W-3 gray marker, cut it out and attached it on an angle to the top of the card. It looks to me like it's still missing something, however, I couldn't figure out exactly what it was missing!

The brick wall technique is lots of fun and you should give it a try. In the meantime, hop on over to the other participating Bombshell Design Team members and see what they created using this unique technique!

Raggedy Birthday

Stamps by Judith recently had a fabulous sale...yeah, and, well...I just can't seem to pass up a good sale!! I ordered 5 stamps and was quite content with that...until my friend, Gloria, brought me the Stamps By Judith catalog!! (she's such the enabler!!) Oh, my goodness!!!! The catalog is nearly an inch thick and chock full of wonderful stamps!!! (If you've never seen SBJ stamps, you MUST go to their website and check them out!) In the end, I bought 22 stamps!! YIKES! They're all beautiful, though, and I can't wait to play with them all!!

Here is a card that I made using one of the stamps that I bought...it's stamp M-08 Medium Sitting Ann. Isn't she so cute? Raggedy Ann brings back so many memories!!!

I stamped the image onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black, and colored her using my Copics. I layered her onto Real Red and Brilliant Blue. The card base is Brilliant Blue with a layer of Real Red and then some dotted patterned paper (not sure who made it. I got it in a blog candy that I won.) The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

I'm not sure what I'll do with this card. I might save it for a friend's little girl's first birthday in January OR I might just send it to my 40-something year old sister-in-law who LOVED Raggedy Ann when she was little. Either way, I love this card, and I hope you do, too!

Better Late Then Never!

This is a card that I made for Sherrod Studio's Sneak Peak/New Release Blog Hop. It was supposed to be posted for Thursday but with my internet connection problems- that didn't happen. SO sorry, Kim!

Anyway, this card is made using Sherrod Studio's brand new stamp set called Winter Wonderland. Aren't these penguins adorable?

I used Sahara Sand for the card base, with a layer of GP110. The patterned paper- Holiday Lounge- is from Stampin' Up and I ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Snowflake Dots embossing folder. the penguins are stamped onto GP110 white using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers, then sponged around the edges using Tempting Turquoise ink. The image is layers on Tempting Turquoise cardstock, then Saraha Sand. The sentiment- "Snowflakes are winter's butterflies" is punched out using SU's Modern Label Punch. I also punched out the snowflakes from the set using the 1-1/4" circle punch and layered them onto 1-3/8" circles of Sahara Sand. I attached self-stick clear gems to the centers of the snowflakes, onto the main image and the sentiment. I think this turned out quite nicely.

I've been having internet connection issues so I haven't been able to post here to my blog. I am on dial-up now- and boy, does it suck! I have several really cute cards I was going to post today but it isn't letting me...

Bombshell Hump Day Hop

Whose Got the Button??? Our fearless challenge leader, Angela (aka Inky Button) has challenged us this week to create a card or project using buttons. Hmm- Inky BUTTON? A BUTTON challenge?? Coincidence?!? :)

Buttons are everywhere- they're on your shirt, on your jacket, on your pants...and they're on our cards!! Here is the card that I created using buttons:


The card base is textured More Mustard cardstock. The image is stamped onto GP110 cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored using my beloved Copic Markers. I sponged around the edges using Real Red ink, then layered it onto Basic Black. While rummaging through my embellishment box for buttons, I found this forgotten-about red Magic Mesh and thought it would be perfect for this card. I found some red and yellow buttons and using craft glue dots, attached them to a panel of Basic Black and textured More Mustard cardstocks. I stamped "Hot Rod Classic", then punched it out using SU's Modern Label punch, and sponged around the edges using Real Red ink. I used pop dots to attach it to the card. Originally, I had planned on using the buttons to make a traffic light, but, alas, I had no green buttons...

This was a fun challenge and I think I'll use this card for my brother's birthday in January. He's a classic, just like this car! :)

Another Sherrod Studio Sneak Peek!

I'm glad that you came back to see the sneak peek that I have for you today!!

This set is called Winter Wonderland and it's adorable!

Winter Wonderland consists of this sweet little ice skater, a snowflake, a pair of cute penguins, and 4 sentiments. This set will be perfect for winter birthdays, Christmas, or even just a cute winter thinkining-of-you-type card.

For my card, I used a Bashful Blue card base, the a layer of Basic Black and then a layer of Gable Green, which I ran through my Cuttlebug using the Snowflakes embossing folder. The image is stamped onto GP110 white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored using Copic Markers. I then layered in onto Gable Green, then Bashful Blue, and finally Basic Black. I used the Ticket Corner punch on the sentiment panel and attached it to the card using pop dots. To give the card a little sparkle, I applied green stick-on gems (Bazzill) to the corners of the main image panel, the sentiment panel, and then to several snowflakes. I love this card and I think this little skater looks alot like the Campbell Soup girl. I remember a TV commercial where the Campbell Soup Kids were ice skating...hmm- am I showing my age?!?

Tuesday Throwdown Sneak Peek!!

Welcome to another Tuesday Throwdown, but this one is special because we're also giving you some sneak peeks at a brand new stamp set that Sherrod Studio will release on Thursday, November 19!

First of all, the Tuesday Throwdown challenge is a color challenge- Stampin' Up's Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink, Real Red and Summer Sun. I never would have put these colors together, but I like it!!! Here is my card using this terrific color combination:

The stamp set that I used is called Rock & Roll. It's a pretty cool set that is perfect for the guys in your family- especially those pre-teens and teens- or any musician. The set consists of a guitar, a drum set, a microphone, a flourish (seen on the card above), a flourishy-type musical score (also on the above card), and several sentiments, and will be available for puchase on Thursday. I kept my card pretty simple because of all the different colors. Instead of using plain Real Red cardstock, I used one of the patterned papers from SU's Christmas Cocoa DSP set. The card is pretty self-explanatory so I won't go into detail. After stamping the 3 images onto the GP110 white cardstock, I sponged around the 4 corners using our challenge colors, then added a couple of red brads (Recollections).
